KPN can proudly say that we have the best network in the Netherlands – and even in the world for our mobile services. An important part of the strategy for the coming years is to strengthen this position in the market by offering the best service experience to our customers. In addition to continuously improving our superior fixed and mobile network, we must also invest in the digitalization of the network, and the services that are provided on it. Network Services is a driving force behind this ambition.

The Fulfilment domain within Network Services is responsible for configuring KPN’s network to deliver services to consumers, business, and wholesale. With our applications we contribute to a quick and cost-effective delivery of services to KPN customers, in an agile way so that we can keep up with the ever growing demand and expectation of our customers and constantly changing and evolving network that delivers vital services to the Netherlands.

The Network Services unit is currently partnering with Tech Mahindra. Which means Tech Mahindra will oversee the execution of DevOps activities from the beginning of next year (2025). The remaining Networks Services unit consist of consists of 4 departments with their own scope and purpose within the service chain of KPN. It is formed by a total of around 35 employees, consisting of Solution Designers, Solution Architects, Product Managers, Projectmanagers and Managers. We are currently contracting with a strategic partner to accelarate the execution of our ambitios Autonomous Operations objectives. These objectives are part of KPN's strategic aim to harness the power of AI/GenAI to optimize operations in Service Assurance, Fulfilment, and Inventory Management.

The Fulfilment domain currently has an open position for a senior IT Project Manager to guide and support projects on the roadmap for 2025. One of these projects is FabriQ: To keep up with the ever growing demand for internet capacity (both for fixed and for mobile), KPN has decided to upgrade its core network. This means a new network will be built next to the existing network, while all services will be migrated with minimal impact to our customers. In fulfilment we need to support this complex migration with IT systems that automate this. At the same time we need to deliver all existing fulfilment functionality for the new network and transition to our new future proof IT stack allowing KPN to become a full digital operator of the future. Managing stakeholders from the internal KPN organization, but also supporting and steering Tech Mahindra where the development work will take place is crucial to make FabriQ a success.

This is just one of the examples of interesting and complex projects you will be supporting. You can imagine that the introduction of 5G also brings a lot of new possibilities that have an impact on IT. KPN’s ambition to reach a fully autonomous network means that we need to bring network and IT even closer together to enable IT systems to manage the network fully autonomously, relying heavily on artificial intelligence.

Doel van de functie/opdracht

The first aim of this assignment is to successfully complete phase 1 of FabriQ. This concerns the initial design. The objective of this phase is to get the high-level network design clear by the network engineers, have a high level IT design based that is able to support this and that is in line with the target architecture. Throughout the software development process, the project manager assists teams in designing, executing, monitoring, and completing tasks to ensure KPN will receive top-quality software products. Ensuring there is allignment between TechM (where the development work will take place) and stakeholders is crucial to make sure the rights input is created on time and of top-quality. After completing phase one, new phases will follow since FabriQ has a span of several years and there’s room for extending this role.

• Manage your projects to deliver in time, within budget and with the agreed quality.
• Align with stakeholders to ensure your projects are getting the right priority and everyone is informed. For instance by ensuring you projects are on the roadmaps of the various teams that are involved and escalate to the appropriate level when necessary.
• Facilitate the development teams to ensure they are able to deliver in time with the right quality. For instance by assuring the test environment is operational by the time testing can commence.
• Align with the surrounding teams and stakeholders to ensure your teams get the right information and co-operation when needed. For instance that the network design is completed on time with the appropriate level of detail.
• Aligning with the rest of the program. For instance if a delay is expected on the OSS side, how to mitigate the risk of delayed integration testing.
  

Functie-eisen

• Bachelor’s or Master degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• You have at least 5-7 years of (relevant) work experience managing IT projects in a complex environment (experience in the telecom industry is a plus).
• Proven experience with large-scale network projects or digital transformation initiatives that align network and IT systems.
• Experience in managing vendors and strategic partners such as Tech Mahindra, preferably in a multi-cultural environment.
• Extensive experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and a DevOps working environment.
• Strong track record in stakeholder management at various organizational levels and with external partners.
• You have in-depth knowledge about software development processes.
