For our client in Amsterdam, we are looking for a DevOps Engineer (Python, Scripting, RHEL, CI/CD),

The opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic data driven engineer who loves metrics and has a natural tendency to help and support other engineering teams. A large part of this function will be operational support and owning the platform, knowing what is happening and communicating with our consumers.
The infrastructure and engineering tribe is a challenging IT work environment with extensive, innovative developments. Staff who want to grow along with us will be given plenty of opportunities for their own initiatives and development.

The team
The Minions squad provides Cassandra Keyspace as a Service (KaaS) on our multitenant and dedicated clusters. KaaS is provided as a complete journey, our centre of expertise provides continued support and advice to teams using our service. The Minions squad strives to be ahead of the game by keeping a close eye on all the metrics and logs to detect possible interruptions before they happen. Tools like Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus are essential in our strive to provide a performant and resilient platform.
At the end, our service plays a critical part within the client.

Roles and responsibilities
• Take ownership of Cassandra Keyspace as a Service that the squad provides to consumers;
• Understanding the detailed technical behaviour of your system under normal and peak loads;
• Life cycle maintenance of the Cassandra and Linux stack;
• Continuously monitor and improve efficiency, quality through in-depth automation of building, testing and deployment;
• Has an appetite for Risk and Security;
• Deliver high quality support and education to consumers;
• Take part in our 24/7 standby schedule;
• Aspiration to become the Lead engineer.

Desired skills and expertise:
• Customer focused; with a proactive mindset;
• Professional and technical ability at bachelor level;
• +5 years of experience in operational environment;
• Platform engineering and full stack experience is hugely beneficial; SRE mentality;
• Solid understanding of operating, maintaining and developing NoSQL solutions like e.g. Cassandra;
• Ability to use tools scripting languages Python, Bash and Ansible language to automate daily tasks;
• Good understanding of the Linux operating system (RHEL and alternatively Debian);
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools from Microsoft Azure;
• Proficient in creation of pipelines and writing playbooks from scratch;
• Focused on delivering quality above quantity;
• Knowledge of other databases/datastores is preferred;
• Strong conceptual understanding of the big picture is mandatory;
• Passion for backend technology;
• Attention to detail.
